Coming up next, I'll be performing an excerpt from Sir Thomas More in Portraits - an art gala to benefit Syrian Refugees. I'm thrilled to be a small part of this and I invite you to join us.
"Portraits: Returning to a New Home" is an art gala featuring NYC artists who will be sharing their personal experiences on home, escape, and immigration in order to raise funds for refugees of the Syrian Civil War. Proceeds will go to the International Rescue Committee (https://www.rescue.org/).
This gala exists not only to raise money to aid in the resettlement of refugees in America but to declare that their stories are our stories and they are welcome here. Though this may be the first time they have come to these shores, they are returning to a new home.
The event will take place on Sunday, December 11, 2016 and will present art pieces in a number of mediums including photographs, paintings, fashion pieces, spoken word, literary readings, and musical performances. Featured artists include painter Jon Lai, photographer Thalith Nasir, pianist Javor Bracic, writer Stephanie Nikolopolous, actress Shaun Bennet Fauntleroy, and illustrator, Craig "Flux" Singleton.
During the event, guests will enjoy light appetizers, a cash bar, DJ, live performances, raffle prizes, a silent auction for select art pieces, and the opportunity to interact with the artists.
Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of November.

From 12/4 - 12/10: $30 for 1 guest and $50 for 2 guests.
